Brian Smith - Chicago Cubs

Brian will enter his 2nd full year as a pro in 2012.  A 2010 draft pick, Brian pitched last season for the Cubs rookie ball team in Arizona and led the team in Innings Pitch while recording a ERA of 3.30 in 14 games.  Brian pitched for the Mets from 2008-2010 and was a big part of rotation during his time here.

Sammie Starr - Baltimore Orioles

Sammie just completed his first full-season of pro ball in 2011.  He played for three affiliates of the Baltimore Orioles before getting hurt in August which ended his season.  Including a stint with both the Frederick Keys (Class A) and Delmarva Shorebirds (Class A), he was hitting .283 for Aberdeen in the New York Penn League

Starr was a "star" of sorts coming out of university.  He was a four-year starter at shortstop and helped UBC to become a Nationally ranked program in his time there. 

Some of Sammie's accomplishments:

  • Drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the 34th round of the 2010 MLB Draft
  • Rawlings Gold Glove award in 2009 and 2010 (NAIA West Region)
  • Team Canada for the World Univeristy Games in 2008 and World Baseball Challenge in 2009
  • Hit .366 his senior year
  • Led the team in hitting in his Jr. year at .355

Les Williams - Toronto Blue Jays

Les will be entering his 2nd professional season and 1st full season in 2012 after being drafted in 2011 by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 37th Round.  Williams played for the Mets from 2005-2007 before attending Northeastern University on a baseball scholarship.  He entered Northeastern as a two-way player (OF and P) but came out of the Huskies program as one of the most decorated pitchers in school history.  

After signing with the Blue Jays, Les was assigned to the short season Bluefield Blue Jays and went on to make 17 appearances, posting a 2-2 record,  36+IP, striking out 26 while only walking 12.
